LUCY HUTSON is an artist. Lucy wants to concentrate on the things she is passionate about. As a human being she finds herself confused by the society around her, she is angered by capitalism and frustrated by gender politics. Her work mirrors these sentiments. Lucy is interested in making work that questions human nature.
For SMASH LAB XII Lucy presents I don’t care about anything
(LUCY:) "I am sure I use to. I can remember boycotting and ranting and marching, but now I don’t. All I want is one thing one cause to give my life a purpose so what should it be? Please help, come talk to me tell me what to campaign for this is a one on one performance which gives you the chance to persuade me to stand up for what you believe in the most."

JULIE ROSE BOWER is a live artist, writer and performance director. She makes original performance installation work concerned with oblique storytelling and making the everyday extraordinary. For SMASH LAB XII Julie returns to SMASH LAB to present Memory dress
-the final piece in a triptych of performance installations that Julie Rose has created based around dresses:
1- Teabag dress, a dress made completely from teabags that makes a lot of tea for all the audience
2- Spinning dress, a dress that appears, disappears and reappears on the body of the performer in a never ending process of crochet
3- Memory dress. Inspired by domestic glamor, eccentric houses, relics and delirium dreams, this is a poem dedicated to the confusion of growing up.

TWISTED LOAF are a female clown/sketch comedy duo. Nina & Libby found each other in a children's tent... they have since progressed to doing gigs in adult venue's, whilst still behaving like big kids. They win over audiences with their clever characters and clown persona's. Also they have just won this years Funny Women Award (2013)!

CLARE DALY is an artist who attempts to confront perceptions of dance performance. She is interested in the condition of the body in performance, issues of spectatorship and originality.
For SMASH LAB XII she will set up a spontaneous party game and performance you can take part in, watch or ignore titled LIKE.

GARETH CHAMBERS has recently graduated from the Laban Centre with a Masters in Dance Theatre. Gareth wishes to use performance as a way to create a new sense of self.
IAM (The Act of Remembering) 3 was born from working and experimenting with the notion of disgust and its relationship to the body and the self.

LISA GUSTAFSSON is a Swedish dancer and choreographer. Her works are personal and political, with gender issues being a frequent theme.
"Fantasies about the freedom of choice" stems from disbelief and hatred towards the free market and its propaganda. We live in constant exposure to advertisers insistence, working to create distress and a desire towards objects we do not need. There is an almost religious belief that happiness is created by investment in the own person. Because you think you're worth it. There is also a made-up unattainable standard that we are compelled to strive for, without any chance of a final success. This creates distress and forces our thought away from what is real and of importance. Advertisement creates anxiety and is involuntary.
Advertisement is violence.
